Background

The Opportunist Diary was started by Jian Wu in 2017, when he first decided to share his investment portfolio, transactions and provide analysis on tradable financial products in his blog. Also, he does share some failures he encountered throughout his investment experience together with the lessons he learnt.

In Feb 2018, Jian Wu decided that he was not fit to share his transactions and portfolio as he was not doing well at all. These were then removed, leaving only his analysis on tradable financial products in his blog.

A year later, The Opportunist Diary was paused for one year as Jian Wu had to concentrate more on his work and study.

In May 2020, he completed his pursue of his bachelor's degree and had a new career. This was when he found it was the right time to resume his financial blogging.

Many adjustments were made to The Opportunist Diary when Jian Wu returned to his blog. It had dawned on him that he was just a Jack of all trades, master of none by analysing on so many tradable  financial products. On top of that, it can be confusing for readers too.

Therefore, The Opportunist Diary was eventually transformed mainly into a Straits Times Index (STI) analysis blog starting from June 2020. Occasionally, there will be analysis of individual stock counters as side dishes.

If you ask Jian Wu on why did he created The Opportunist Diary, he will reply that "Sharing is caring."
